I just finished reading a blog titled, “I Want to Fall in Love with Tiger…Again.” One word…seriously? The writer says we cannot be looking for the old Tiger to reappear. Why not? Tiger’s ways of yesteryear are what worked for him then and can work for him now. She also says that “where you have been does not matter.” Of course it matters. Hence the word, history. It’s history that we look at to determine the future. It’s said that history repeats itself. Well, if that’s the case, then we can expect a repeat of Tiger’s golf performance again, hopefully soon. She goes on to say it’s time to let go of the past. What does that mean exactly? Tiger’s past is what defines him both as a player and man. He’s made mistakes on and off the court. So what? He’s human or did some of you forget that? I want to see Tiger intimidate everyone who comes his way, whether it’s the media or other golfers. I want to see that arrogance. And I want to see Tiger win. He recently said “I love learning, love competing and love winning. Winning is the ultimate goal and that is why we are out here each week.” You couldn’t have said it better Tiger. It’s always been about winning for you. Why shouldn’t it? So, go back to doing what worked best before that night in November 2009. ‘Cause whatever it was, it worked…for you.
Is Age a Factor? Not if You’re Madonna or Clint Eastwood
February 7th, 2012
Let’s talk about the two people besides the football players themselves, that had an impact on the Super Bowl. Madonna. At age 53 she rocked it. I don’t care what any of you say about her performance. It was awesome and at 53 she has to be admired. So what if she lip-synced. You try doing a great live vocal in the middle of that arena. She set the stage for lots of performers today including Lady GaGa. She still has it and kudos to her. The other person we’re still talking about is Clint Eastwood. He did a commercial for Chrysler during the Super Bowl last night that has every political strategist trying to say who it targeted. It was great. At 81, Clint is still RELEVANT. Yeah, a word you guys keep throwing around. He’s relevant at 81 and Madonna is relevant at 53. It’s amazing for all you out there who think that if you’re over 50 you’re not RELEVANT. Wrong! Add Betty White to that list and the average age of a RELEVANT celebrity today is…oh yeah…75. So, age is important, because with age there is wisdom. And, you’re all tweeting and commenting and blogging about it today. Tell me who was more relevant in the past 24 hours? HA! Age over young and beautiful any day.
Top 5 Reasons I’m Watching the Super Bowl Instead of Golf
February 3rd, 2012
From the female perspective:
#5. I can justify eating junk food all day long.
#4. I want to see how Madonna is going to “knock people off their seats.”
#3. I need an excuse to stay on the sofa and avoid a work-out.
#2. The commercials, baby!
And the #1 reason I’m watching the Super Bowl instead of golf is…Tom Brady. One hot, buff quarterback in muscle defining clothing!
Think about that all you male golfers out there!
Where is Golf Headed in 2012?
February 2nd, 2012
So, where is the game of golf headed? Can it remain traditional much longer? These are questions I pose to you, the reader. The PGA has launched its 2.0 initiative for 2012. Can they change the course (so to speak) of how golf can be played and enjoyed by the masses? Will educating the golf courses, club pros and owners in being more receptive really be something we’ll see practiced in 2012? Not sure. It starts with making the game more fun. It starts with opening the doors to courses that only members and the elite have been allowed in the past. It means education, starting with the youngsters. It means some rules change. It means using non-conforming golf balls. Let’s make this fun. Let’s start some new traditions. 2012 is the year. Where do you think golf is headed?
Kids Have Great Golf Swings Too
January 31st, 2012
If you enjoy the game of golf you can’t help but enjoy watching the little kids who have started playing the game. Some of these kids are awesome! At last week’s PGA Merchandise Show, The Little Linksters presented awards for the best pee wee golf swings. Parents submitted videos of their youngsters and their golf swings. The ages were 3-8. Judging was done by Lexi Thompson, Kelly Sheehan, Win McMurray and Jim McLean. This year’s emcee was Speaking of Golf’s own, Tom Horan. Many individuals were involved in giving their time and talent to make this event happen. Kudos to Brendon Elliott who heads up The Little Linksters. He is also a top 50 kids PGA teacher. It’s Brendon and many others who have helped these kids along the way to develop their interest in golf. But, golf needs more interested people to have an impact on these kids and money to support their cause. Check out their website, www.littlelinksters.com. Maybe you can make a difference.
